HELP US HOST THE ACCLAIMED NATIONAL YOUTH ORCHESTRA (August 4 & 5, 2010)
"Nanaimo was one our favourite stops" was the response of the National Youth Orchestra musicians after their very successful Canadian tour. On August 5th 2010 the National Youth Orchestra will get a chance to come back to that favourite stop and it will be their only one on the island! Did you know that more than a third of professional musicians in Canada are NYOC graduates performing in leading orchestras such as the Boston Symphony, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and the New York, London and Vienna Philharmonic Orchestras.

The 2010 tour repertoire is as follows: Shostakovich | Festive Overture; Strauss | Don Juan; Rimsky-Korsakov | Scheherazade; Dukas | L’apprenti-sorcier; Hétu | Sur les rives du Saint-Maurice; Ravel | La Valse; Stravinsky | Petrouchka; Agocs | Perpetual Summer

The Nanaimo Conservatory of Music is coordinating the billets for the Youth Orchestra. If you would like to have the opportunity of hosting one of these young musicians, please get in touch and we will give you connect you with Donna Laing and Leslie Mathews who are the billeting coordinators. In thanks for your support, all billeting families will receive a ticket to the concert on August 5th at the Port Theatre.
