The Nanaimo Conservatory of Music is thrilled to bring back on of Canada’s best loved pianists Janina Fialkowska for a special celebration of the 200th anniversary of both Chopin and Schumann. The exceptional artistry and the brilliant virtuosity of Ms. Fialkowska have won her enthusiastic accolades from audiences and critics worldwide. As one of the world’s foremost interpreters of the music of Chopin she is an obvious choice for the celebrations – that she applies her brilliant virtuosity to Schumann also is an added bonus. Trained in Quebec, Paris and at Julliard, she won top prize at the first Arthur Rubenstein Piano Master Competition and has gone on to have a busy life performing and recording. Nanaimo is fortunate to have this artist perform as part of an international tour. There will be a master class at the Conservatory on Monday, March 15th at 10 a.m. This is open to the public for a fee of $10 for adults and $5 for students.
