WE’RE SAD TO SEE YOU GO…
Art and Mabel Petrie, who brought the Suzuki program to the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music 10 years ago, have decided that this is their final year of teaching. Art and Mabel’s commitment and dedication to the Conservatory and their students has been unfailing over these many years. During their tenure as faculty here, the Suzuki program at the Conservatory has grown to include not only violin and piano, but also flute and, last year we added cello! With more than 100 students now taking lessons in the Suzuki method, the program is a huge success. Many, many thanks to both Mabel and Art for their enthusiasm and support, and happy trails to both on their North American road trip!

SHOWCASE CONCERT A SMASHING SUCCESS!
I would like to thank everyone: teachers, students, parents, volunteers, staff, Board members, Port Theatre production staff…everyone, for their part in making the Conservatory Showcase 2010 the success it was. By its nature, so much of what happens at the Conservatory takes place out of sight in studios and classes and practice sessions, all separated by time and space. So it is a real eye opener and inspiration to see all the energy and talent manifested at an event like Showcase. One begins to get a real sense of what a positive and buoyant influence the Conservatory is on the community as a whole.
Garry McKevitt, President

Congratulations and thanks to all the performers, teachers, volunteers, committee members, Port Theatre crew and staff, and Kathleen and Ellen! All of your hard work, diligence, enthusiasm and courage resulted in an event that was rewarding on many levels for the entire Conservatory community! Apologies to the guitarists whose names were omitted from the Twinkle portion of the program: Maya Dean, Jet Ferrarro, David McLeod, Morgan McPhee, Jackson Phillips, Jordan Pynn, Connor Reid and Rhys Wong. They and the Conservatory Guitars performed brilliantly!
Patrick Olmsted, Showcase Concert Chair

Host families are responsible for transportation to and from the ferry and theatre as well as meals when the billet is at the home. Host families will receive one free ticket to the concert.
